European Values Bought and Sold: An exploration into Azerbaijan's sophisticated system of projecting its international influence, buying western politicians and capturing intergovernmental organisations

A new report, “European Values Bought and Sold: An exploration into Azerbaijan’s sophisticated system of projecting its international influence, buying Western politicians and capturing intergovernmental organisations” has been produced by Freedom Files Analytical Centre with support of the Working Group on reform of international organisations of the Civic Solidarity Platform.

The report is based on documentary research and dozens of interviews and provides insight into the workings of a vast machine of illegitimate lobbying and corruption by representative of Azerbaijan, influencing Western parliamentarians, public officials, and experts. This sophisticated corruption system affects policies and decisions of intergovernmental organisations and governments, undermines their credibility, and allows the regime in Baku to shield itself from criticism of its dismal record in human rights and democratic institutions. The report concludes with a set of recommendations to the international community.
